Candace Quarrels is an actress and singer currently located in Los Angeles, CA.
Candace recently finished playing the role of Peggy/Maria in eleven time Tony winning “Hamilton: An American Musical” in Chicago while also covering the roles of Angelica Schuyler and Eliza Hamilton. Before Hamilton, Candace starred in the musical "The Book of Mormon", where she played the Tony award winning role of Nabulungi.
Born in Memphis, TN and raised in West Memphis, AR, Candace has been involved in theatre for as long as she could talk. With urging from teachers she began taking private voice lessons with Dr. Sandra Franks of Rhodes College, at the age of 13. From there, Candace began attending Clark Opera Memphis' Summer Conservatory every summer where she proceeded to delve into classical music.
Candace later attended college at Belmont University in Nashville, TN where she studied Musical Theatre with a minor in Dance. There, in the middle of her Sophomore year, she was hired to join the National Tour of The Book of Mormon as the lead role of Nabalungi
Candace spent 2 years with “The Book of Mormon” all the while studying voice with Broadway's vocal coach Liz Caplan. Upon leaving tour, Candace moved to New York City to pursue more work. Shortly after moving, she was hired as a cover for all 3 Schuyler sisters in the Chicago company of Hamilton. After a year of covering, Candace was promoted to the role of Peggy/Maria which she played for 10 months before moving on.
Candace now lives in Los Angeles, and is pursuing a career in TV/Film.
